Other Items of Note for January
The Episcopal Church Women of Saint Anne’s Parish meet on the first Wednesday of the month. That date this month is the 4th of January. All women of the parish are encouraged to join in the work and ministry of this important part of our Parish family. Meetings begin at 7:00 pm, immediately following the regularly scheduled mid-week services.
Feast of the Epiphany and Three King’s Potluck
January 6th, is the Feast of the Epiphany, a dominical feast in the calendar, and at Saint Anne’s has come to mark the official end of our Christmas celebrations. Because this is a dominical feast, there will be a First Vespers offered on Thursday, January 5th. In addition to the customary round of Offices for a dominical feast day, it has been a custom for the parish to conclude the season with a potluck dinner following the Solemn Mass. Unfortunately our numbers have dwindled to the point where this is no longer an viable activity. Nevertheless, we will have a Parish Dine-out to keep the festive tone alive. Be sure to put the sixth on your “to do” list.
Our Monthly Healing Service occurs each month on the First Saturday. Saturday, January 7th, is a Greater Feria, in the Octave of the Epiphany. Healing Masses are open to all who may wish to ask for God’s healing grace to enter their lives. The mass begins at 9:00 am, immediately following Morning Prayer at 8:30 am. Al are welcome.
Each year beginning with the Feast of the Confession of Saint Peter through the Feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul, the Christian world observes A Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. This practice was initiated in the early part of the last century and has been embraced by both the Vatican and the World Council of Churches. Watch for special prayer resources as the dates approach. The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity – January 18 – 25.
Monthly Vestry Meeting of Saint Anne’s Parish will take place at its scheduled time on Wednesday, January 18th, at 7:15 pm, following the Mass for the Confession of Saint Peter the Apostle. This will be the final meeting of the current Vestry.
The Annual Meeting of the Parish Church of Saint Anne will convene on Sunday, January 29rd at 11:30 am, following the regular Sunday morning services. The Annual Meeting ordinarily is the only congregational meeting held during the course of the year. This year, in addition to reports from the various ministries of the Parish, we will be electing a new Junior Warden, two new Vestrypersons, and a Director for the Foundation Fund Board. A sumptuous brunch will precede the official Call to Order and much good fellowship and camaraderie are part of the traditional Annual Meeting at Saint Anne’s. Put this date on your calendar so that you will be sure to be a part of this important annual event.
